Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. K. Sikri

(Retired) Authored the NALSA judgement in 2014, recognizing the right of transgender persons, which became the basis of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019

Honourable Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri was appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court on July 7th 1999. His Lordship was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on October 10th 2011 and elevated as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 23rd 2012. His Lordship was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on April 12th 2013.

In 2014, Justice Sikri along with Justice KS Radhakrishan gave the historic NALSA judgment that recognised transgenders as the third gender entitled to the full spectrum of constitutional and legal rights bestowed upon the citizens.
